After Surgery
Now it’s time to heal. Follow these instructions for at-home care after your surgery. If you have additional questions, feel free to call our office at 865-963-4120.
Checklist
- If you think you need emergency help or are experiencing shortness of breath after your surgery, go to the nearest emergency room or dial 9-1-1.
- A nurse will review and provide you and your surgery day companion a copy of post-operation instructions.
- Follow all instructions.
- Take pain medications as prescribed.
- Do not drink alcohol or drive while taking pain medication.
- Call your surgeon, primary care physician or visit the emergency room if you have excessive pain, develop a rash or stomach pain or experience difficulty breathing.
- Follow all instructions for wound dressing and care.
- Have someone with you for the first 24 hours after surgery.
